Walk around using the agreed scope
Work through each included elevation and detail in a practical sequence. Confirm that exclusions and approved variations are understood by both parties. Ask the contractor how high or inaccessible work will be reviewed safely; do not climb to inspect it yourself. Record any item that needs follow-up rather than relying on memory.
Discuss finish and remaining items
Look at the work in ordinary viewing conditions and raise concerns with the painter. A repaint does not automatically remove every existing texture or building irregularity unless that work formed part of the specification. Where something remains unresolved, record what will happen next and the agreed responsibility.
Keep information for future care
Retain product names, colours and any written care and warranty information. Ask when items can be placed back against painted surfaces and how to clean the finish. Address new leaks or damage promptly through the appropriate trade rather than expecting the coating alone to protect a failed building detail.
